We just had some good friends in the brewery to collaborate on a delicious brew to benefit those affected by the horrendous Campfire wildfire in California. Sierra Nevada put the call out to all breweries to brew the Resilience IPA and give 100% of the proceeds to the Sierra Nevada Campfire Relief Fund, so when our co-founder, Reed Sjostrom was recently visiting their east coast facility in North Carolina and learned about it, he knew we had to help. Carson Souza of Pig Minds had already reached out before learning about the Resilience IPA to see if PSB wanted to collaborate on a benefit beer, so when the news was shared that Sierra Nevada was offering up the recipe for Resilience, the pair enlisted the help of other area breweries, Generations and Hairy Cow.
The special collaboration beer was brewed on December 12, 2018. The original recipe was followed fairly closely, except for the addition of some cherry wood smoked malt — a fine suggestion from the Generations crew to try and add a little reminder of what this brew is benefiting. The folks at Live Wire Hops in Amboy, IL also wanted to join in the giving and donated all the cascade hops for the brew! We’re all very excited to get the beer flowing and to get our checks written. In total, we all should be sending checks to the fund for around $3,000 dollars! (Total donation from the beer should be close to $12,000!!!)
We will be launching this brew January 16th as part of our “New Year, New Beer” event. (We’ll be launching a new beer every Wednesday for the entire month of January!). Make sure to save the date and come join us for the launch of this special charity beer. All the breweries will be here to celebrate the launch, mingle, and answer any questions you may have about the beer or the collaboration.
